Time to think about tucking all of my 'outdoor' vette parts away for the
freezing part of the year. I hope Spring takes it's time, as I still have LOADS
of work to do before driving the vette again.
Boy it sure seems early! I spent about 7 years in your general area (Manchester and Nashua, NH) for school and work in the late '70's early '80's and can remember those snows ... they say we may get a wet snow mixed with rain next week across Chicago but nothing that will even stick so we're lucky. My '74 goes into storage on Nov 1st ... too much salt on the roads out here to even take a chance! Time to get those projects that have been waiting done! :chevy
Hi, guys,
Down here in the Antipodes, we are just pulling our cars out of winter hibernation and getting them ready for a long Australian summer. October is our wettest month, but there should be about six or seven nice driving months coming up. I am about to start getting my 74 ready for registration. As it's still left hand drive, I can't register it until it is 30 years old. So, on January 2, I will be rocking up at the VicRoads office with a roadworthy certificate and some money and should be driving it for the next four or five months before winter sets in.
It sure hurts having it in the garage and not being able to drive it.
Keep warm, and if you get too cold, come down here for the summer.
finally, the weather in Tampa is perfect and now I'm being shipped to Copenhagen for 5 month long project in two weeks and I'm told it's already freezing :seeya
After living in Phoenix for 3 years and the Austin for almost 9 years, I LOVE COLD WEATHER. I grew up in NC and missed 4 seasons and the occasional snow down there. We moved to Northern Virginia a year ago and we loved all the snow we got here last year. The only reason I don't move up next to Danger Dave is because I want to be less that a days drive from my parents who still live in NC.....for the kids. I will try to never live in the desert again. I just put my hardtop on and go for a drive in the winter.
SNOW ROCKS
Grew up in Syracuse NY.... shovelled enough snow by my 10th birthday to pay my dues for a lifetime. While driving a 1966 Ford ex-NY state police car on Rt 81, it broke in two just behind the front fenders.... rusted frame. The windshield split right down the middle.
Fell off the roof while shoveling snow (38 ") in NJ... before I hit the ground, the decision was made to move south.
Will move further south... but will never live in the north again.
I brought my rusty Corvettes with me to North Carolina... I envy the local guys whose frames have zero rust.
Snow is beautiful until it gets mixed with salt & sand.
Time to bring out the Snowmobiles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :hurray:
Packy's got it right. I just bought two vintage sleds this summer - a pair of
1981 Kawasaki Drifter 440s. Snow is WAY fun, if you can handle it.
See you on the lake - either on a skimobile or driving my Buick out for some ice fishing.
Besides, the 'vettes need a little vacation each year.
Glad you folks in the desert can finally breathe the air without scorching your
lungs. Have fun as the weather gets good for ya.
