I've been looking into TT2's, TTD's and V45's for my '76 in various sizes, but think I'll just stay w/ 15". Since all the posts I've read using SEARCH feature speak of 16's and larger...
What is the proper backspace (and offset, if applicable) for 15" x 8" in the TT2's
Are TTD specs any different?
Vintage Wheel sells the V45 in 15" w/ 4.5" backspace...does this require a spacer?
Thanks to everyone who has replied to my MANY posts about the 16's and 17's :yesnod:
My TT IIs are 15 x 8 with 4" backspacing, same as the stock wheel. Rod

Hmmm... :skep: :skep: I don't think that the 15 x 8 were ever available with 4" backspacing... The only come with 3.75 inch backspacing.. However - I don't know if they were producing them with 4" backspacing in the past...but I doubt it... :skep: :skep:
Here are the specs for the 15 x 8 with chevy bolt pattern 5 on 4.75:
Part#...... size offset backspacing bolt pattern
505-5861 15x8 -18 3.75 5x4.75
Thanks for the replies...it seems as though 15" x 8" w/ 3.75" backspace will work (although 4" backspace would be the ideal size)
Now for the TTD (the one-piece version): This is only offered in the 15" size w/ 8.5" width and 3.75" backspace...will these protrude the sides of the car?
If so, how about 7" width in the front and the 8.5" in the rear? Would this look goofy?
I really do prefer the TTD's, and unless I go w/ the custom offsets of the 2-piece TT2's or the 2-piece TTD's (CL205's), I'm speding a whole lot more "cha-ching"!
Wheels for Less has the 1-piece TTD's for $169 and the TT2's for $179 (specials of the month). The 2-piece custom offsets are quite a bit more.
Go with the TTDs if thats what you want, but I think you will need a spacer, probably 3/16 or 1/8 if you can find one, to clear the calipers.
You should stay away from the universal fit type, like the Mr Gasket spacers, as these seem to cause wheel vibrations according to some. I think this might be due to the spacer not sitting symmetrical over the lugs since the holes are oblong-unilug looking.
My friend has a 92 Camaro RS which has OEM supplied GM aluminum or steel spacers on the rear wheels for correct offset-from the factory- for his stock aluminum rims. These have round lug holes to sit perfect over the lugs and looked about 3/16 thick maybe. Ive tried to look up that part on the internet but havent had any success. Maybe a dealer could look up the part number.
