Default OT marriage proposal ideas???

About 10 years ago, I read about this marriage proposal scenario that I just had to do.
The place is called Medieval Times. It's an arena where actors joust for the honor of selected maidens from the audience. The "wenches" serve you food without forks or knives, and its basically a king Arthur like atmosphere.
What they had was: you paid a couple hundred bucks, they would videotape the show professionally from like 5 angles. During the show, a knight would pick your woman as the maiden he is championing. At some point, a manager asks you to come with him while you discuss your credit card, or there's an important phone call, or your car is being towed, etc. The knight wins, and your woman get escorted to the arena for the final ceremony. Out comes the knight in a fresh and clean suit of armor, atop a horse, and he approaches the King and Queen. The rider then dismounts, and removes his helmet, and (you guessed it) ITS YOU!. You then proceed to ask for her hand in marriage in front of the whole arena.
When I was 18, I though that was the coolest idea, and decided that whoever I chose, would get that proposal.

Well, due to the liability involved, and because the corporation has changed hands over the years, they don't provide that anymore.

Now, I have a woman I've been dating for almost 3 yrs. We're reasy to take the next step, but I want this to be the MOST memorable day in her life.
I would like to keep our anniversary, so I plan on proposing on Dec 26th. 3 years to the day, from our first date.

A coworker said to talk to a local movie theater, and have a short film made, or even still frames, asking her to marry me. The idea is okay, but it doesn't seem to have the spark I'm looking for.
I'm not a sports fan, and even if I was, a scoreboard proposal is not what I'm looking for.
I don't want a plane with a trailing message, either.
I also want to avoid the standard restaurant scene.
No ring in the cake, or salad or anything like that either.
I'm looking for something that will stick in her mind always, and make her friends and relatives jealous.
I'm so desparate, I've even considered making it so non-chalant, that she will be angry for all eternity at my lack of any ceremony with the proposal.

I've just recently started searching the web for ideas, but none have really appealed to me yet.

Any ideas? Or advice on this matter???

Dang, that Mideval Times things gave me goose bumps! That would have been awesome!

I just took a walk with my girlfriend (at the time) one night, we talked and I told her how much I loved her and then asked if she would consider becomeing my wife. Nothing too crazy but it came from the heart. WHatever you do she is going to love it as long as it is more for her than the people around you (ie a large crowd).

Good luck and congrats on finding someone that you want to spend the rest of your life with!

I left my full time job (Digital Equipment Corp) in 99 to work as a consultant.

My proposal line was" I need benifits, lets get married." Being a practical woman, my soon to be bride said "Yes." We then went to Vegas (We had already scheduled our vacation around the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, & Outdoor Trade) Show. We got our license and got married on the strip (after the SHOT Show was over). My best friend and his wife (who introduced us) were the best man and maid of honor.

Now she uses my benifits, and we could not be happier.

Bottom line is when you marry the right woman, life is pure heaven!!!!! It dosen't matter where or how you are married.

Man oh man...I never heard of that Medieval Times proposal. I've been there many times but never saw anything like that. That is soooo cool.
Sorry... I don't have any ideas for ya. In fact, I'd be the one to highjack you to the nearest strip club and try to change your mind!!!
Best wishes

Have BIG LAW MAN or another Corvette forum Law Officer stop her for a traffic stop. After letting her sweat for a little while, you step out of the passenger side of the police car (in uniform) and propose to her, saying something like " You're under arrest for stealing my heart". Or any other idea like that.
She ought to remember that for life. Get mug shots to remember the moment with!

We had too much to drink at the river, and I proposed in slurred speech outside our favorite bar. It's not a terribly romantic story, but it's memorable, and we've been married for 7-1/2 years, and I couldn't be happier.

My buddy and his girlfriend went to Paris on vacation, and he surprised her with a proposal at a "temple of love" (something like that) at Versailles.

The important thing is to Get Down On One Knee, women dig that and when she tells her friends and parents that you got down they will all think your so great. When I proposed I got a room at a fancy hotel that had a really nice restaurant. After checking in and getting dressed we went down to the bar and I got us each a glass of champagne, then I took her for a walk to the exact spot that we first said I love you. Then I told her that I always knew that we would be back here, then I got down on one knee and pulled out the ring and popped the question. Then we went and had an awesome dinner and called the families from the hotel room, and then finished the night of right.

There was this movie....mighta been Stepmom...had Ed Harris...he proposed to a woman....mighta been Julia Roberts...anyway...he used string to tie to her finger and said that was the tie that bond thier hearts...or some such kinda romantic drivel, er, stuff...then he slid the ring down the string much like a Marine would cross a river gorge on a rope...know what I mean? It was pretty cool and the only movie marriage proposal that made me feel something. Sorry so vague, maybe somebody else can remember more.

Well the day after Christmas in Illinois is probably not a time to think about doing someting involving your Corvette.

Just take her to the place where you had your first date, tell her you love her and that you want to spend the rest of you life with her.

Hey Elk Grove guy. One of my lady friends suggested this after I showed her your Forum post. If your fiance reads Cosmo, you can send them a picture of yourself holding a marriage proposal, and they will publish it in a special section.

You are just soooo sweet! (coming from a woman, that's quite a compliment) I did a search for "marriage proposal ideas" on Google for you. Here's a link to get you started. I'll post more as I search the web.

Whatever you decide, let us know ok? Congratulations and many happy years together. With a sentimental man like you beside your future fiance's side, your marriage will last forever! Here's the link

I used to write poetry, essays and short stories which my girlfriend (now my wife) liked to read. One short story described a young couple on a forest picnic outing with their young son and his puppy. The story was narrated by an older man, describing the scene as he had experienced it many years before, as he fondly recalled cherished moments from a lifetime of happiness together. I explained to my girlfriend it was based on a couple I knew. When she asked who, I of course told her "us". Obviously, it worked. This past May we celebrated 27 years of marriage. We did get the son and dog, too :D

Don't ask me...I proposed in the shower after my girlfriend-turned-wife said "I know you're not going to propose for a while, so I'm just going to book the ballroom so we're assured to get it on the few days we have open to get married in the spring."

I didn't get down on one knee -- I would have drowned. ;)

But we had been to two (yes two) weddings that day..(Of course, come to think of it, one wedding was a second wedding, the other was a third (which has already ended!))

And I have been to Medieval Times in Kissimmee, FL...was there over ten years ago -- fun when you're young and drunk.

Actually - here's a real good thing to do
Take her out for a very nice meal at a top-flight restaraunt. Visit the rest. earlier in the week. Give them your credit card number, introduce yourself, expain that you are going to propose at their place . Have the Host and waiters greet you and your girlfriend by name (hello Mr.so in so and Ms. So in so, nice to see you.) See if they can provide champagne or a wine that your girlfriend enjoys so it is served right after you are seated. Also have roses ready at the table.

Most high-class joints are happy to oblige and will have other suggestions. You provide the credit card in advance so that they can make purchases, and that you don't worry about money when proposing.

Get on one knee, say something unforgettable, such as "I am the type of person who has always enjoyed life, but everything I do is more enjoyable when you are a part of it. I would love for you to be a part of me life forever...will you marry me"

Or something dang corny like that.

you need to get that vette together and ask her in the vette.

forget all the grand-standing stuff. Find a romantic spot to take the vette and don't worry about doing anything involved. You can always go to a fancy dinner after or before.

i asked my wife in my 75 on lookout mountain in Denver Co. on a cold clear stary night overlooking the city lights.

it was simple but awesome.

its one reason i will never sell that car. One of many memories.

Hope she is a vettehead like my wife...

Here is a short version of how I proposed.

We had our first date on New Years, so that is the day I chose. I was working that day, and Tanya was staying home, so it worked out great.

She woke up in a bed full of rose petals, with a single rose beside her with a note explaining that there would be a scavenger hunt starting at 2:00 pm, when she would call me for the first clue. Every hour after that she would follow the clue given to her on the previous rose. All the clues were related to our lives together, and the roses were hidden throughout the house and garage. We stayed home that night, cooked a wonderful gourmet dinner, and had a bottle of Dom on ice. At 11:55 I sang her the song I had written to her while I played the guitar, and at midnight I got down on one knee, gave her the last rose and proposed. We were married in Jamaica in September 2003.

Good luck on whatever you chose and I wish you both the best of luck.

Medieval Times is such a cool place. I remember going there on a field trip in 6th grade. That was a wild trip. My (senior) class is absolutely wild, and always have been. Medieval Times was also in the Cable Guy. Well as you cant tell, I'm not one to be giving advice on this topic, but good luck.
