Got qoute of $275 a year from Hagerty for the '80 at $15K value. Does this sound about right? Car is registered in Florida and will remain that way. Although, I will be moving to North Carolina soon. I don't think the move will affect me due to my registration remaining in Florida. Anyone know?

That sounds about right... maybe a little high.. but it all depends on your ZIP code... My insurance rates might drop by 20% after moving from Dade county to Broward...
If the car remains registered in FL, then you must maintain FL insurance on it. Plus, Hagerty cannot cover the '80 here, as NC requires cars to be > 25 years old in order to carry collector car policies. I was looking at an '80 about a year ago, and that's what I was told at that time.

I ended up going with American Collectors Insurance for $263 with a mileage limit of 2500 a year. Hagerty wouldn't discuss my moving situation over the phone. They said to complete the application first, and then they'd reply. My regular car insurance is with USAA, and American Collectors is associated with them. The NC move is not a problem. As for mileage, I'll be sure to stay within the 2500 mile limit. Although, the drive to NC will eat up a big chenk of that.
Hagarty's doesn't require appraisals, just pictures. Your quote sounds a little high to me (I'm getting $25K agreed value for about the same bucks), but like someone else said, it's all in your zip code. I don't imagine that Hagarty's would keep your car insured if they knew it was insured in FL and garaged in NC.
