Does anyone know the correct proceedure for performing a compression check (hot or cold engine)???

hook it up, set throttle to full open, cycle a few time till pressure does not increase.

also remove all the spark plugs before testing. this kills the drag from compression so the engine will spin faster with the starter and get a better reading on the gauge

and dis-able the ignition so you dont risk a fire with the wires hangin there. Un hook the hot wire to the dist or coil.

FUll Throtle while cranking engine???
hook it up, set throttle to full open, cycle a few time till pressure does not increase.

Yes, full throttle with the ignition disconnected. The throttle does not have to be WOT, but it does speed things up a bit.
