Re: True convertible with a Coupe VIN # (Paul Borowski)
I say place it on ebay as a super rare 73 vert with coupe vin and watch the bidding war. Maybe start the auction at $25,000 with a reserve of $30,000

65' hardtop VINd as a convertible
I own a black '65 hardtop that is VINd as a convertible. The car sat for awhile and couldn't be registered when the DMV computers discovered the error. An investigation was performed by the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Windham NH police.
The NICB confirmed the various VIN plates on the car were original. They also examined the microfiche GM shipping records and determined that, according to GM, the car never left the factory. They show the previous and post car shipping, but not this car.
But it does exist. It's in my garage.

Burning Brakes
My '70 convertible is VIN'd as a coupe. Tag has the correct rivets in it. Biggest problem I've had was convincing the insurance company it was a convertible.
Tank sticker and orginal engine were gone when I got the car...
