In addition to the 6 screws per side, there is a bracket that bolts from the frame rail to the rear of the covers (near where the exhaust exits).
I know for sure with factory covers, becuase of weight and such, this bracket is a necessity !!
There is also a recessed bracket - on fatcory pipes - that mounts up front near where the sweep begins on the front of the covers, also for weight / support.
Also .. hope you bought the mounting hardware kit - it has all the insulators and correct bolts.
Won't take but a couple of hours to get the covers on.
I would mount the covers 1st, then have the pipe/muffler assembley put in.
Finally put the rear bracket in. It actually mounts under the exit pipe from the muffler.
so your saying, mount and install the sidepipe covers..then install the mufflers? i would have did the install the other way around, but if thats easier or the way it should be done...then thats interesting. good information.
