Notice how he went out of his way to find the farthest vacuum port on the carb to hook to 92 hoses and hose clamp over left valve cover. Wiring going everywhere with splice butts scares me what the electrical system might require. http://adcache.collectorcartraderonl...6/52903546.htm
Correct LT-1 CE block Correct "CE" block??? Collectors Edition?
thought that was 1982 only.
Looks like it has some good stuff there just poor execution. MSD Box, New fan, New master cylinder, etc. The splices are from the fire, caused by the fuel fire.
Dohhhh...And to him...it probably looked just fine...hehehe...Don't ya just love a challenge..?...Good Luck...and keep a fire extinguisher close.. :jester
That may only look a little worse than it really is.
He probably did the wiring for the MSD box and it looks like he may have done the alternator voltage feed turn on wire up into the dash through the idiot light. I had to do that for my alternator to turn on as I had an open somewhere in the dash. I kept mine a little cleaner loooking though as it was only 1 wire.

Re: bubba stricks again (bgrice)
If the seller had just left the engine pic out we may have been saying nice car. It does look good to me. Any way, it appears that the master cylinder must have been leaking into the interior at one time. Look at the interior shot and see what I mean.
David, a CE block is typically a warranty replacement motor. Most engines that were replaced under warranty were stamped with a CE X ******* code, where the "X" is the last digit of the year. My '69 has a CE block, the car was built in April of 1969 and the motor has a May 1969 casting date. The stamp on the front pad reads CE 9 ******* which means that the motor was replaced in 1969.
Usually, a CE block is at least a small guarantee that what you're getting is a correct motor for the car. My car has the 11:1 forged pistons, L-46 camshaft, 8" balancer, and all the other goodies that were supposed to be in the L-46 engine package. What this guy is trying to say is that the motor is an actual LT-1 spec motor, instead of a later model 350 from a Cheyenne pickup or a Caprice with unknown internals, etc.
o.k. david, i'm going to start charging you for this shiznit! anybody notice there are no bolts holding the valve cover on? and as an extra special bonus, anybody happen to notice the freakin' fan is on backwards? well, maybe i'm wrong on that one but i don't think so. looks backwards to me.
:skep:
It really doesn't look that bad, it depends on a personal inspection but it might take very little to turn that into a really nice car. I think $15-16K is more reasonable and realistic price for the car.

Smokehouse69,
Someone needs to start an appraisal site for vettes where a group of vette owners hacks the cars to the bone for prospective buyers. Might be a good business venture.
This is nothing compared to what I just straightened out on my 72. Bubba actually couldn't figure out why the headlight doors came up so slow, and the car ran lousy. Well bubba, that's because you fed the headlight vac system from a T off the distributor vac advance line!! :conehead :conehead
