Default 78 Glove box latch question

The glove box latch assembly spins freely. It looks like the inside and outside parts of the latch assembly are separate pieces and screw together squeezing the glove box door between them.

 But U can't figure out how do either unscrew or tighten up the inner and outer parts

Your help as always will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Ken (molchaser)

the website attached above is excellent. I use it to get mine out. First you have to get the tumbler out, and then the assembly is held in by kind of hex. I say kind of, because it has more edges than a normal hex. I was abel to kind of wedge a hex in there an remove it. I suspect in true GM form, that there was a special tool for this.

Well the deed is done,

With the key I only had to fiddle with the first set of tumbles, I could get the others "retracted" and drop out the guts with just pushin in the first set.

Never could of done it without the pictures, Thanks for the help

Save the link, you'll be doing the job again in a year or so.

Or, you could be a hero to the next new guy that comes along
