Top A/C belt adjustment bolt
Almost ready to start my new motor but.........while re-assembling all my brackets and pulleys I came across a problem with my rebuild R-4 compressor (imagine that). My original adjustment bolt for the compressor doesn't work on the re-built compressor. I'm talking about the bolt on the top bracket, the one that sides in the slot while adjusting A/C belt tension. There is a lot of paint around the hole in the compressor so I figure I'll go buy a tap today to clean out the threads in the compressor. My question is this, does any body know for sure what thread size this bolt should be? I believe it should be 12 mm. Anybody else have trouble with this 1 hole in this expensive part. I know...I should have bought a new compressor.

??? My original compressor has a big old Delco sticker on it that says the threads in the compressor are metric. The old bolt doesn't work in the re-built compressor, maybe the re-builder taps these holes using a good old UNF (Unified Fine) tap? To tell you the truth I didn't even try a common bolt (non metric). I'll try that tonight, thanks guys!
