What a pain in the butt to get it out... It took me 1.5 hours to finally remove it....
My heater and ventilation system wasn't hooked up anyway.. so why having the assembly in there... The whole assembly including the cover has over 15 lbs... Another 15 lbs of weight savings :D
I put an aluminum plate over the hole from the inside and used this plate to mount a bank of relays, fuses, a ford solenoid, a coil and 4 msd boxes. It keeps the electronics dry, out of sight and if I want to work on them I remove the passengers dash with 6 screws.
