Rectangular port intake that will fit under hood???
I'm 90% sure of the answer but I have to ask. Is there a rectangular port intake, stock or otherwise that will fit under the stock BB hood?
The LS6 "pancake" will fit, maybe a edlebrock rpm, I'm not certain. I went w/ the L88 hood so I would have more options.

Blunsford.........if you find that it fits and you are looking for one....I am going to be putting an Edelbrock, dual plane performer rpm intake on Ebay soon. It is polished. For BB with rectangular ports. if you are interested, make me an offer via email!

I know Dep has a real nice unmolested LS6 manifold. If you soften hime up with small talk (small as in 302 Z28 motors) you might get him in a good mood. Better yet, trade him a Sawzall for it. He is into major destruction lately!

You raise a good point. There is a LS6 lowrise for the Corvette and a highrise for the Chevelle. Only the lowrise will fit the factory BB Vette hood. The highrise version is the same manifold as the L88 except that they leave the plenum divider in place. The L88 has the divider milled away.

Actually, I just bought a new manifold from George Daina today. The Holley Strip Dominator. So yes, my LS-6 low rise aluminum is available. But it won't be cheap. They're pretty tough to locate compared to the high rise version.
If you don't believe me check E-Bay...there are NONE advertised.
I'd charge exactly what I paid. $450 plus shipping ($20).

Might as well buy a bar of gold :D

HI, Found you guys again. I have a couple of spare 435 intakes! I was going to use one on my LS7 powered Camaro. Used the spare L88 though.

Hey wally...know what THOSE go for? Last one I saw was around $1200.

More like 1500-1800, complete with carbs, air cleaner, lines, and linkeage...but the trips are sweet, and when they kick in, it's just baaaad... :D
Plus they look out of this world when you pop the hood...and forget all the nonsense about tunning them, that's plain :bs Softer springs do the trick.
OOOOOPS....I'm bad....almost hijacked this thread.... :D

Let's see if we can top that other monster thread!
George: I had the Six Pack setup on my 1970 Dodge Super Bee. Had a 4:10 rear end/4-speed. When I floored it in second and the front and back carbs kicked in (vacuum and it was IMMEDIATELY!) it was like hitting a passing gear in an automatic. You are 100% right about tuning BS. Front and rear carbs are only CORES. The center carb is the only one you tune and it is just like the front end of a Holley 4bbl with center pivot floats. Only thing you MIGHT have to change is the springs in the vacuum diaphram as you state.
I was tracking a COPO ZL-1 manifold on E-bay the past few days. It looked authentic. Had a modest amount of rust around some of the water plugs (why don't people use BRASS????) and some rust in the thermostat housing. It just sold a few minutes ago for $135.50. Not sure if that is a good price or not.
I was VERY tempted to bid on it but held back. Anyone else have a manifold addiction??? :D

Blunsford, none of the good ones fit under the hood! Not even close. Strip Dominator, Performer RPM, even the lowest Weiand Stealth won't work. To make matters worse, you can only use manifolds that have a forward tilted carb flange. Most are level with the top of the block, and the Vette hood ain't. With square ports, you'll want the Vette LS-6 intake like the guys said.
Each car is different as well, depending on the motor mounts used, body mount heights, etc.

There really is VERY LITTLE performance loss with the stock LS-6 manifold as compared to the high rises. It would only be noticeable at top end.
Surprising they could get so much efficiency from it. I suppose the aluminum heads and soild lifter cam also helped ;)
Wish I could let it go cheap, but I just have too much invested in it.
I'm tracking a Tarantula TM2R manifold right now (not the fancy one I was looking at on the other thread) on E-bay as well as a factory L-88. And you bums KEEP AWAY!!! I don't need some dillweed jacking up my bids

About the L88 intakes, they will not fit under a stock BB hood. You must use a L88 hood. It`s basically the same intake as a 66 Vette 427/425 or 67/69 396/375 Camaros. Should probably include the 65 396/425`s also. Identical dimentions except some relocation of heater hoses by the different years. Any one of these could be actually converted to the L88 open plenum style. Naturally the date code would no be correct but the performance is the same. I was wondering, what are they asking for a real one? I have a couple of spares!

ZL-1 manifold just sold for $135.50 on E-bay. Too much IMHO. :nonod:
As soon as someone puts ZL-1 or COPO or L-88 on something the price automatically skyrockets and guys come out of the woodwork to buy them. Hey...I have a COPO/ZL-1/L-88 vacuum reservoir I just ripped out that I'll sell for $500!!!
