Default TPI Question

What's a decent price for a complete TPI setup? Intake, air box, maf, computer, sensors, etc. Off an '85 if that matters.

IF the runners are clean and undented about 500 bux seems fair...assuming the injectors are good, and that is a LARGE assumption, most guys buy 200 bux worth of Ford injectors #24 lbs and have over with them....

as an aside, I have to comment about the MAF sensor and associated plumbing for air cleaner and so forth....it's a huge PIA....I wold junk the stock computer setup and use the #1227730 MAP setup, and programme it for a '91 Firebird 350 by an aftermarket chip supplier....

also you need a fuel pump....

Dave

I would stay away from an 85 system, it was a one off system with some uniq parts. I paid $450 for an 89 MAF system with stock heads. If you go MAF 89 is a good year because they got rid of the cold start 9th injector. I have a few books on TPS systems if you want to borrow em.

yeah, I'd say stay away from the ones with the cold start injector too, the speed density system would be my choice, no MAF, a much simpeler installation

:iagree: You can do away with the cold start injector, Street and Performance among others has a kit. I would convert to speed density also. You can still use that manifold and get the 9th injector eliminator and drill and tap another vacuum port for the MAP sensor.

OR you can go to the hardware/plumbing supply place and get some tap in plugs, and for the 9th injector port,....a screw in plug...common items...

the7730 computer is allready set up for no 9th injector....

If MAF is good enough for the Z06.....

OK yes it is upgraded from the old MAF but MAF is more forgiving when changing/upgrading parts and is less labor intensive to tune. You'll get a heated arguement over which is best so be prepared. If you have any questions on what a MAF system can do go to the C4 section and look up skies_down_it, he is almost running in the 10's (11.0X) with an older MAF system.

yes i use maf also and made alot of changes to it without having the prom changed all the time.yes i agree plumbing it a little bit of hassle but i dont mind, also i plugged my 9th injector also and run it without cold start fuel inrichment just fine. And when i do send out my prom for changes i just install my stock 305 prom back in and runs fine for cruising when i want till it comes back.
