Is there any performance difference between a 80 L-82 stock head and a 82 L-83 stock head? I know the L-82 has threaded rocker studs and pushrod guides where as the L-83 dosen't. Other than that is there any difference??
Thanks Jim but I too have a set of 80 L-82 heads sitting in the garage. I'm in the process of changing intakes on the 82 and thought well if I'm this far why not have the 80 heads cleaned and tuned up and stick em on the 82.
same heads, maybe the L-82 has the la4rger 2,02 & 1,6 valves, the 82 has 1,96 & 1,5.
According to the '03 'Corvette Black Book', ALL '80s (L-48 & L-82) had heads with casting # 462624 (305s had casting # 14014416); ALL '82s had the 462624 head. The L-82 heads may've been machined for screw-in studs, etc., but I can't say for-sure...
I was told long ago that the last 2.02"I/1.60"E-valved head was the '72 LT-1, but I can't confirm THAT, either...
Marck, I was under the impression our '82s had 1.94"I/1.50"E valves, not 1.96"I. Was that a 'typo', or am I wrong (again???)?
The 462624 head is still offered by GMPP as the hi po (ahum) iron head, it has 2,02 / 1,6 valves and screw in studs, maybe the L82 has the same but I think they''re all the same.
