My EGR is not doin anything, I think it is shot. The intake is loaded with carbon deposit at the holes to the EGR. Is this realy needed, or can I just put a plate over the hole on the intake. Should I try to scrape some of the crud out of the intake holes? I think most would fall back in and not out if I tried.
My 1973 big-block actually runs better with it working...go figure! Not sure if that would be so with an aftermarket intake manifold that had no EGR port. Any thoughts?
Mine is original intake so it still has the EGR valve but the EGR valve is not working. Also after removing the EGR to inspect, the section in the intake that is feeding the EGR looks very plugged with carbon like crud, almost closed off. If I can cap it, I'm done, if it needs replaced, do I need to pull the intake and clean out the EGR feed ports? or try to clean with it installed? or just leave intake as is and install new EGR?
