Going to work this morning I decided to drive the vette. Hadn't taken it out of the garage in a while. Approaching a 4-way stop was just me and a red C-4. The area was wide open so I could see him coming from a long way. We were arriving at the same time and I was on the right. If you arrive at the same time at a four way stop the car on the right has the right of way. As we were both coming to the stop sign at the same time, he did one of those quick stops about 5 feet short of the line and takes off. Drives right by me AND no friggin wave. Didn't even look at me. I don't get it. Oh well. Had to rant - its the stupid little things that **** you off.
sounds like he was just wrapped up in his own little world at the time. not trying to make excuses but i think we all do it one time or another. probably running late and didn't even notice you were driving a vette.
get into the lotus position and repeat after me: "aaaaaa-ummmmmmm, aaaaaa-ummmmmm"
:grouphug:
Not to downplay the incident, but in most states the law does not specify that the person on the right has the right of way at a stop sign. I live in Virginia and the drivers manual states that no one has the right of way at a stop sign.
A Corvette can't help it if it finds itself in the hands of a jerk at some point in it's existence. I recently pulled right up next to a C4 at a light waiting to exit an Auto Zone, looked over to wave and the guy glanced at me and looked away without even as much as a nod to acknowledge me. Oh well, my car was cooler.

Holy Cow! Virginia is a state of anarchy!
California law is pretty specific on the right of way if I'm not mistaken. I actually don't mind if someone takes off before me. I hate it when you get to a stop sign and everyone hesitates and doesn't know what to do. If you faulter, I'm gone.
Most times I get a wave from a fellow vette. I don't ever initiate the wave to a C5, though. I guess I've been burned too many times. Kinda like asking that pretty girl to dance and getting turned down over and over again.
Oh well, I feel better now. Thanks for the :grouphug:
there's bad blood in all generations of vette owners. i have had c3's, c4's, and c5's not wave to me before. the only one that really bothered me was when i was in my 81 and waved at a cool c2 roadster with sidepipes. he glanced at me, and then flew off like he was better than me or something :skep: :nonod:
and FYI, i always wave while driving my 86, and have found that more c4 owners wave to me than any other generation :D
I'm convinced ther two type of Corvette owner's. The one who waves, appreciates the American Sports Car and the ones' that don't wave are just idiots!! Doesn't matter what year or generation Vette, some people only see them as transportation and have no clue about the wave and heritage. Just my $.02.

:iagree: There are corvette people and people who own corvettes.
It's because if I'm in the C4, I'm probably doing something that is part of the daily grind. The car has A/C and does not feel as special as the C3. I love the C4, but it feels more like a normal car. That's good and bad.
The C3 feels like a parade on wheels. That's good and bad.

I think you're right. Some people are "into" being Vette owners. They love the car, the heritage, the social activities, etc. Others just own Vettes. They could just as easily have picked a 350Z, a Supra, a Dodge Stealth/Mitsubishi 3000GT, a Porsche 944, etc. Perhaps those types of owners should have picked one of those other cars.

Yea, it kinda is, huh. I didn't expect mine would draw as much attention as it does while out in public. C3's just seemed so common when I was a kid that I figured people would still look right through them, but I guess enough time has passed, and you see so few on the road these days that they really stick out due to their dramatic look. All I know is I didn't mind getting the big smile and the thumbs up from that cute blonde 20-something hottie in the Civic last Saturday. That made my day!

:iagree: So true!
I saw another signature, can't remember who, that said "There are 2 kinds of people, those who HAVE a Corvette, and those that WANT a Corvette!"
I just LOVE that!!
Didn't know about that 'right, has the right of way' rule. I will keep that in mind, wonder if it applies to MI road rules.
Well, here's a :seeya from a RED C4 . . . I wave all the time, and especially watch for the C3's cause I'm looking for one!
