I made a set-up for my 2000 Z28 using the same chambered section, its still going through those damned Cats but sounds very good. I intend on doing the same thing to my Vette......when I get one......soon.....
Was there a power increase or decrease. Is there a reason to use chambered exhaust over dual exhaust and headers
I have headers and it sucks.. Once I get new headers instead of crap ones I'll probably gain a few more ponies, my head pipe is very oddly shaped from the header being bent.
I did notice a bit of a drop in performance but it was worth it for those sounds
Got them also in my baby... one of the best investments I did so far!
Just wanted to add that the exhaust manifolds makes a big difference here: With Ram-type manifolds, the sound is louder than stock but with header it is LOUD when you step on the throttle! Idle is very deep, mellow and sounds grrrrrrrrreat. BTW, a lot of guys asked me if that is a big block - of course I said NO - this is a nice little mouse!
Just for fun.... have somebody else drive your car and let him pass you a couple of times, flooring the throttle. Annoying I found that it almost sounds better from the outside (so every pedestrian should actually thank me for installing these wonderful pipes).
Beside from the small muffler section, the increas in diameter from 2" to 2,5" is what makes the biggest difference by creating a deeper tone - just like organ pipes (the bigger, the deeper). Waiting for the 3" chambered version...
