Default Headlight Adjustment

I am putting in new headlight warning switches on my car this evening. The switch on the drivers side is working correctly. The one on the passenger side is not. It appears that the headlight is not coming open far enough to make the switch open. Where do I need to make my adjustment to get the headlight to open further? Do I need to pull the springs and adjust the end links or is there something else I am missing.

I have had the redlight on my dash since I have had the car. I tested it a few minutes ago and this last adjustment is gonna get the redlight off. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Default Re: Headlight Adjustment (Eddie 70)

There are basically 2 adjustments, one is a stop bolt and jam nut on the forward link, the other is an arm that extends out from the body of the headlight assembly. I believe the up adjustment is on the arm, it has a 1/4" stop bolt and jam nut. The stroke of the actuator is also adjustable by adjusting the link in and out (it turns on the threaded actuator shaft) to get the travel you need. There is a headlight adjustment procedure published in the service manual, kind of involved but not extremely difficult. I made an aiming grid on my garage door using thin strips of duct tape, worked out great. Let me know if you need the aiming procedure, I'll try to scan it and e-mail to you.

Default Re: Headlight Adjustment (Big Fish)

I got it fixed this morning. One more thing to scratch off the long list of little things that I want to do. Keep plugging and I will get there eventually. Ha....
