Default Rod bearing question
What is the dowel hole for in the HD bearings? Is it worth the extra $1 per bearing?

CLE-CB743HD
Chevrolet: 1965-95 366, 396, 402, 427, 454, standard size, narrowed rod bearing with a dowel hole

My guess is that the rod would have a dowel in it to keep the bearing from spinning. :confused:

The dowel holes are for aluminum rods which must use a dowel to locate the bearing. It has to do with the expansion rate of the aluminum.
