Default Andy Rooney Questions

Ever notice how, no matter how much a guy spends on his smallblock, there is ALWAYS SOMETHING additional they need to "let loose" that hidden horsepower? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice how, small block owners are always bragging about how their engines are lightweight, but you never hear big block owners complaining their engines are too heavy? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice how, many people ask other people what color they should paint their Vette and then always paint it a color THEY decide is nice? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice how, smallblock owners are always trying to make their car perform and be the same size as a big block, but big block owners never seem to want their engines to perform or be the same size as a smallblock? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice that some people insist on trying to make a non-performance carburetor into a performance carb, when the factory has already acknowledged that the Holley is THE best performance carb by installing it on their highest performance engines? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice how, even though the best feature of a smallblock is it's ability to make horsepower at high RPMs, most smallblock owners do their best to reduce that feature by stroking it and reducing the potential and ability for high RPMs? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice that people with gobs of horsepower never bother to brag about torque, but owners that are down on horsepower always make it a point to advertise how much torque they have? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice how people get peed at Dep when he nails a point that applies to them? I wonder why that is?

Ever notice the guys who brag loudest about ther big blocks usually have the smallest *****? Wonder why that is?

Ever see a guy spend big money on an alum bb to have an eng that weighs in like a small block but could have spent less money on setting up a blowen sb eng and made more power? Wonder why that is?

Ever notice a guy wasting his time cutting down the engs of guys who are perfectly happy with them? Wonder why that is?

Ever notice some guys keep beating a dead horse even after it is in a glue bottle? Wonder why that is?

How bout this one, Dep?

Ever notice how a guy, living in Illinois, while discussing drag-racing in the CORVETTEFORUM, admits he knows not much about 'Corvette-only' drag-racing, and doesn't even know what the 'Corvette-Challenge Series' IS, even though one takes place in his home state?

Don't worry about giving DEP a "Beating th Dead Horse Award". I already gave him one last year, and I'm afraid if we were to give him one two years in a row his head would burst!!! lol

Anyone know how to put a clowns hat on the blush2 icon so we can have one of a clown for a couple of "special" people here?

DEP How about some pictures of that project car so we can see where ya ripped all of the good stuff out to put that airweight block in. Jim

You seem intent on 'ripping' me, and that is OK.

I asked you on the 'other' post; just what are YOUR qualifications?

WHO said anything about racing a CERTAIN make of car?
The subject was 'drag-racing Corvettes', and I brought-up the various Corvette-Challenge Series across the country.
I said "IF (and I know that is a big word for you...) a dyed-in-the-wool bracket racer wanted to compete in the Corvette-Challenge Series,...": just what part of this don't you understand???

First, you 'rip' on me for back-halving an old C3 (which seemed to offend you), then you boast of tearing the radio, wipers, and heater out of your street/strip cars.
Which is it; 'cherish' the older cars, or 'gut them? Or, do you want it 'both-ways'?

I have bracket-raced, and won, against super-charged drasters, altereds, roadsters, etc.
I have bracket-raced, and lost, against diesel-doolies, Ford Granadas, 4-door Oldsmobiles, etc.

If you choose to race 'heads-up', that is fine. In 'your' form of the sport, there is ALWAYS someone quicker-and-faster than you. How fast HAVE you gone?

I owned a rear-engine dragster for a very brief period of time. Due to health and family problems, I sold it after just 26 passes. In an attempt to get it 'on-the-track' before I sold it-off, we inserted a pump-gas 355" motor (from my 12-second '79 Z28), with the 'wrong' gear, converter, headers, etc..
In the 1/8-mile, it ran 5.80s @ 114; in the 1/4-mile, it went 9.50s @ 141, OK?

The S&W dragster was sold to a friend, who encouraged me to help him with the car. He later won HIS track's Points Championship, running 7.70s @ 177 (509" alky-injected Rat).

He sold it to a mutual friend of both of ours, who I continue to consult with. He won HIS track's Points Championship, too, running 8.40 @ 160 MPH (468" carbed-on-gas).

These Elapsed Time figures are fact; if you choose to ignore these facts, that is fine-by-me, too.

Now, YOU'RE the guy who 'boasts' of his "brass-nads/heads-up racing" abilities. I've shown you mine; let's see yours, OK?

And, if your radio-less, heater-less, wiper-less race car hasn't run quicker than my poor-little 'odd-ball-combination' dragster did (9.50s @ 140+), I can only ask:
Wonder why that is?

Geez! Does anyone never READ posts that long? :D
I'm not going to insult the intelligence of members of this forum by listing a string of BS qualifications just so you can get a woody and cut them up. I said in the other thread I don't believe that "qualifications" crap and I meant it. The internet is a wonderful thing. You can be anything you want just by typing it out on a message board. If you want to list all that :bs that's YOUR choice. Not mine. If you don't like what I post...ignore it. Or continue to act like a big crybaby. It don't mean nothin' to me EITHER way.

Ever notice that some people insist on trying to make a non-performance carburetor into a performance carb, when the factory has already acknowledged that the Holley is THE best performance carb by installing it on their highest performance engines? I wonder why that is?
I disagree. The advantage of the Holley is its easy to change jets and tune. The QJ is much harder to deal with and therefore takes much more skill to tune. Once you have it tuned properly its a better street/strip carb.

Oh, and big blocks are for trucks. Just too damn big and heavy for a Corvette. The new LS1/LS6 blocks were built to perform better than the big block anchors.

I couldn't imagine trying to navigate a road course with all that weight up front. It would probably push like a pig.

Well it was a Big Block that won LeMans in the early 70's. They never had a problem with the handling. :D

I'll take my "Truck Motor" anyday than you.
