Some guys asked for engine pics. I actually took a few last night but the camera jacked up so I re-took some today but again I got off too late and it was dark out so this is the best I could do.
Standard fare here, matching #'s L-79 with some sort of high lift cam, torker intake and a Eldebrock 1400 carb. Altenator, tach-drive points distributer, all vacuum components, and some sort of relay on the left fenderwell (what the hell is it?) appear brand new. As I mentioned before it has a miss that I think is related to atmospheric (carb) experienced this 2 years ago when I drove up Mount Palimar (spel?) and the car wouldn't even hold a idle when I came down to sea level. It finally worked it's way out on it's own 2 days later.
Thanks but the flash from the camera makes it look better than it really is. It is really dirty, and will take me 100 hours to get it to the level I want it. Paul you know my disease.
You gotta do something about those rocker covers, other than that it doesn't look too bad. The new relay on the left fenderwell is most likely the horn relay.

I was hoping to sell them to Krusty for his clown car
So that's what an external regulator looks like. Pretty darn big. Rather have a clean install with an internal regulator. For that matter I hate that external mallory coil really clutters up the engine bay. I can see a new altenator and HEI conversion kit coming soon.
Have fun! Except for the travel damage I haven't heard anything major from you. My '71 appeared to need more work than your '68 when it arrived and I am just as picky as you. I have no doubts your '68 is in the best hands.

Re: Cali 2 engine pics (Cali,68,L-79)
Not too bad. I'm not a fan of the M/T valve covers. I never understood what that long, rectangular, unpainted area was for?? Maybe you're supposed to have your name, address & phone number engraved incase you loose your Vette! :lolg:
I am kind of laughing at myself because I was just about it try and be nice about telling you the valve covers were ugly and the fan was pretty bad even though it matches the plug wires ---and then I remembered your last Corvette, Compulsive disorder comes to mind LOL my car would look like yours if I wasn't so lazy. I can't wait to see how you make your new baby beautiful!!!
Reroute our plug wires so they are not running parallel in a bunch or crossing over each other on the loom, that might be where your miss is coming from. If you have to cross them over each other then you should shoot for a 90 degree angle but there is no need to do it on the loom since they are not touching each other. I have the same looms and plug wires with 90 degree boots at the cap and am able to run them without touching wires. Pics to come in a minute.

Hello! Congratulations on the 68
Here's my almost stock looking 327 engine compartment. It's minus the smog stuff and a few other odds and ends but I'm working on that. I'm using the generic chrome valve covers until I get the original valve covers rechromed. The second pic shows what the original 68 L-79 vavle covers look like. They are not as tall and the ends round over to more of a slant. http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/68rdstr//pc310003.jpg http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/68rdstr//td.jpg
