O-Ringed My Rear Calipers
Yesterday I put the VB O-ring pistons in my rear calipers. All I can say is wow. The brakes are NOW, when you touch the brake pedal. I am well pleased. Tomorrow I will tackle the fronts.
Cudos to Vette Brakes on the oring kits. Glad I went this way. Thanks to Tony for offering the deal to us.
The process is very easy. It will take about 15 minutes tops for each caliper to be rebuilt. The O-ring conversion is VBP parts 11309 and 11310 two of each. I will give a special price of $ 99.95 good for 24 hours. 800-237-9991 or tony@vettebrakes.com
Oh yeah, the price of replacing with O-ring calipers is $ 364.95 list price. I guess I'll do a 24 hour special on that for $ 328.46 and a $ 160.00 core charge.

Re: O-Ringed My Rear Calipers (Sport 718)
Guys, it really is an easy job to replace the old style with the o-ring type. You will spend more time pulling the calipers off than it takes to install the new O-ring pistons. I was amazed at how easy it was.
Tony... Are special O ring pistons required for this conversion or can just the O rings themselves be used?
Btw, can you say g'day to Jeff for me please. He might remember talking to me from last year while I was visiting. Just tell him it's the tall Aussie who got into the wrong side of my car when leaving Vette Brakes.
Brutis,
The O-ring pistons are different from the lip-seal pistons. The lip-seals have an angled edge where the seal itself goes into. The O-rings have a squared out cut rather like this [ .
So, no you can't put O-ring seals on a lip-seal piston.
There is no wrong application for O-ring calipers. They are great for Vettes that sleep for the Winter. Lip seals tend to leak if they sit for long periods of time, the lip seal will lose it's memory and fluid will leak out. O-rings WILL NOT do this and they decrease piston cavitation.
I was about to install o-ring calipers when the local vette shop (who will be doing the work) recommended against it, claiming o-ring calipers don't release properly, causing the pads to drag (excessively) on the rotor.
I did the O-ring conversion and added SS braided flex lines along with a new power booster at the same time. MC was newer and calipers were newer but were originally OEM seals.
I have to say my vettes brake pedal is as solid as any brake I've ever felt. My 98 ZR2 Blazer and our 03 Mazda6 doesnt have as good of a pedal IMHO.
I was amazed at the difference these 3 changes made. My pads and rotors were also fairly new as the brakes were recently done on the car before I bought it, but the power booster went bad.
Made my purchase price much lower since the owner couldn't figure out why the brakes were intermittentaly bad. :yesnod:
