Default Organic Brake Pads

I bought a set for my vette yesterday to install on the rear of the car. Just wondering if anyone on here had used the organic style brake pads. Any advantage or disadvantage to using this type of pad versus any other type of pad.

I used a set from Muskegon Brake. Advantage: they are quiet. Disadvantage: they wear more quickly. I loved them because of the lack of squeal.

I prefer the organic to the semi for a street vehicle. I personally get annoyed by the squeal of the metallic compound pads.

Now if I lived in mountainous country it'd be a different story.

I like my rotors and metalic pads are hard on the rotors. I use wagner organic pads and pay about $40 a set of 4 CDN. The $22 CDN set are not as good and I have had problems with the pad falling off the backing.
I would rather replace a set of pads every couple or years over replacing the rotors.

I'm thinking organic next round too.Does anyone know if the brake dust will harm aluminum wheels any more (or less) than the semimetalic pads?No doubt there will be more brake dust coming from the softer pads.

There is more dust. But when you drive ~1,500 miles/year like me it is not an issue.

It will not harm the aluminum rims. I have been running centerline auto drags for 14 years without a mark on the inside or stain. I just pulled one back off this afternoon and wiped the dust off the inside. It comes right off without leaving a stain.
These rotors have been on the car for the 14 years I have owned it and they still look like new. This shot doesn't do them justice.

I've been using the organic since I rebuilt my front end. I have the graphite fiber or something like that on my Stang and had some type of ceramic pads on my old Suburban. Those left a lot of soot on the wheels. I don't use my Stang too much, maybe twice a week and have to clean them almost weekly. :cry

Seems a little less dust with the organic.....dang I keep typing orgasmic! :lolg: Yeah, fat chance. :D

My dad put a set on his 300M. He complained every day about how dirty they made his rims, and he isnt even a car guy. He said he had to clean them more than weekley, and that MY wenol(sp) was the only thing that cleaned the brake dust off. They are quiet but i woulndt use them on my vette.
