Two Threaded holes in intake?

Two Threaded holes in intake?
i have the 2101 edelbrock intake. there are two threaded holes on the front. one is for heater port. whats the other for? the one right next to the water neck. the neck is really close to the hole so it can't be anything that would stick up much or it will hit the water neck. should i just block it off w/ a plug?

my sending unit doesn't fit the hole. should i buy one that fits? or is there more to it than that?
signguy- is that a wire or a tube coming off that? it loooks really big.

i used the original unit...but i bought an adaptor piece at the hardware store...
here is a zoomed in pic of it...the white is Teflon tape...
the wire is covered with that ribbed plastic stuff...

OOPS! i apologize!
after reading about it being in the head, it got me thinking so i just went out and looked and sure enough...mines in the head too!
i was confued because the one i showed a picture of IS a temp sending unit...
but it is for my elec fan...

Loose the teflon tape, it can keep the sensor from grounding properly and mess up when it comes on or off.
