Default Stupid question about spark plug wire boots and header tubes.....

On my small block, I have Headman headers installed. I am also using MSD super conductor wires. It seems that on cylinder 7, there is not enough room for the wire boot to go on the plug like the rest of them, the tube is bent closer to the head than all the rest. The only way to no contact the tube, is to have the wire installed with the boot facing "down" towards the ground, instead of "up" like the rest. It really is only astetics, but it bugs me! My stupid question is: if I let the boot contact the header tube, will it damage it, or are these things made tough enough to withstand the heat?

My two rear plugs I run down and to the back of the motor. Yes it will eventually melt the wire if it is layed up against it.

I guess I already knew the answer to this, I was just hoping I could let it rest against it, ands it would be fine! Thanks for ruining my plans!!! ;)

Here is a thread on that subject, suggestion to use Jacob ceramic boots sounds good, but I have no first hand experience...

I do have first hand experiece with Jacob ceramic boots and highly recommend them.
They are compact, come with lifetime warranty and I found Jacob's great to deal with.
Solved my weekly burn problem on 2 cylinders. I only use them on those 2 bad cylinders and leave the rest with the Accel wires.
Cost me $40CDN per wire complete

:iagree:

$300 US

I went through several sets of MSD's premium wires that had melted. Jacobs ceramic boots are better than the insulated sleaves I spent too much money on that still didn't cure the problem.
