I would love to see everybodys 1/4 mile et's along with hp #'s and mods. I Just built a 1980 and have no idea what to expect. Its a 350 with 10.5 to 1 CR, trick flow ported heads, comp 230 236 , 532 lift cam, performer rpm intake, headman headers, holley 750 dp carb, Borla exhaust, 3000 stall converter.
I would really appreciate any replies no matter what the mods you have are I just want to know how fast these car are running, I have a 99 and know they can make crazy power but i heard it was hard to get a c3 going and the tracks are closed in NY. Thank you for your replies in advance. :chevy
I run a BB in a 68. Stock LS7 454 crate engine right out of the box. 850 Holley on a L88 intake, Hooker Comp headers with 3 in exhaust, GM 1975 HEI ignition, Turbo 400, 3500 converter, and 4.56 gear. 9 in. slicks. No other pump jockey trick stuff. 60 foot 1.6, ET 11.42, MPH 119. Sorry, I dont run small blocks. This may not help.
I don`t know the HP of the 454 LS7. It was never advertised. Your guess is as good as mine, But it`s probably close to a 427 L88. Big difference is the lack of full floating pistons and heavy [ 70lbs ] each, open chamber iron heads, and the cam is a little taller too. 580/620 as opposed to the L88 at 560/580. Oh yes the LS7 has a couple of more inches also.
what is the hp rating on the crate motor. That is a great et. :seeya

Ironcross,
Those are some SOLID numbers! I'm curious- what suspension mods, if any, did you do to hook up so well?
I can run 1.90s 60 foot times on 255 wide 500 treadwear rating street tires. Seems you could shave a couple of tenths there.
That was on Drag Radials.. I have a set of Street Slicks (ET Streets) right now... The best 60' time that I ever got with the Drag Radials was 1.591.. unfortunately not on the day that I ran my best ET.. Drag Radials hook good on a well prepped track... If the track isn't prepped all that well - ET Streets or slicks will get you good traction...
No chassis modifications, line lock or much of anything else. 15 lbs of air in the tires. We put it together just for the hell of it. In fact they kicked me out of the track because I didn`t have a roll cage and other drivers were complaining. What I was actually told was to either slow it down or put a cage in it. So I drove it home.

Thanks, it was a few years ago when gas was better.
Headers open, choke flap removed, spare tire removed, Air filter and cover removed (Base still in place).
My best was a 13.2 @ 106. Haven't had a dyno run since my new cam went in this spring.
FYI, there's a CorvetteForum performance registry. Click on the TOOLS dropdown and look under REGISTRIES. Lots of cars in there if anyone wants to see where they stand. Lots of FAST cars in there, too!
