I have decided to go with the Dynomax ceramic coated headers, some questions for those of you who have installed these. Any problems with the spark plug boots hitting the header tubes. Did you need a starter shield to keep the heat off. Is there a bracket required for the alternator on a 71 small block, if so do you have the part number. And last did you notice a power increase.
I have the dynomax. No problem with boot clearance nor did I use a starter heat shield. I have driven on a 100 degree day and had no problem with the starter. You need a bracket (2 pieces) for the alternator. I got mine from summitt - they will know what you need. The brackets didn't come with any bolts :mad I had to go get my own. You will need one for the alternator pivot and two to put the two parts of the bracket together. I had an H-pipe hooked up at the same time. It became quieter and a little more power. :hurray:
I put them on my 71 over a year ago. They look and perform great. I did need a bracket to that sits just over the header for the alternator to bolt to. I think the bracket only cost like 20 dollars max. I cannot find the dynomax version of this bracket, but summit does carry it. Here is a picture of what it should look like from Hooker's website. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...f10917HKR.html
