wireing
I have a question. today I removed the seats (to clean Carpet)
I noticed 2 relays behind the seat and a cluster of wires of all colors
the orange one is live with the key off and its burnt to a crisp Whats the wire for does anybody know ???

I've got a 75 and havnt noticed any relays behind my seat. May not be stock. Although truth be known most of my work hasnt been done inside unfortunately. :cry
There is also an orange wire, circuit 240, that runs to a "sequencing module". I see the "sequencing module" on the 1974 and 1975 circuit diagrams but not on 1973 or again not on the 1976 circuit diagram. One of the wires to this module is yellow/black, circuit 207, which is a seat sensor to the neutral start switch. Given that you mentioned a relay and several wires I would guess the orange wire is connected to the "sequencing module".
The wires would be:
Gray / White, Circuit 217 Right Hand Seat Belt Buckle Switch
Tan / Black, Circuit 215 Left Hand Seat Belt Buckle Switch
Black, Circuit 150 Ground
Black, Circuit 150 Ground
Black, Cricuit 150 Ground
Yellow / Black, Circuit 207 Seat Sensor to Neutral Safety Switch
Dark Green, Circuit 218 "Interlock Relay" - Ground(Instrument Panel / Dash)
Orange, Circuit 240 Fused Power
Gray, Circuit 214 Right Hand Seat Switch/Sensor
Yellow, Circuit 212 Left Hand Seat Switch/Sensor
Black, Circuit 150 Ground
Note: The interlock relay-ground is provided by the electronics.
All this just to make you "buckle-up"
The orange wire is completely cut off and the rear compartment light works
so it must be the Sequencing module BUT should it be on 24/7 ???
Any input anybody
Under the dash that connector plugs into its mate 4 plug connector (also with one connector space unused). The mate connector has FOUR (4) wires running into it. TWO (2) orange wires attached to a single connector space, and the 207 yellow/black and the 218 dark green wires.
At this point the (two) orange wires become circuit 40. One of the orange wires runs to the headlamp switch, the other orange wire runs back to the fuse panel. It appears to me it is fused from the same fuse as the tail lights.
You might try disconnecting the connector under the dash to see if that indeed will cut power to that circuit. As the "sequencing module" is not operating now, I would think that also disconnecting 207 and 218 circuits would not have any effect.
You could also just cap the exposed orange wire as being the least invasive thing to do.

My concern is why did it burn ???
if its only for the seat warning buzzer who needs them .
But the info you gave me is very very helpfull
thanks a bunce
if its only for the seat warning buzzer who needs them . ....
The control is not a warning buzzer. It was intended to PREVENT the car from starting unless both the driver and passenger had fastened their seat belts. The "won't start" system was only in place for a couple of years as indicated in my first post. I think, at the time, some of these systems may have been disabled.
If any of the seat belt switches or driver's and passenger's seat sensors failed then the car would not start. This was not a real popular "feature" at the time.
