Just got my engine compartment all painted up and then put the 505 into my 81 Yesterday! I put in the hydroboost but the valve cover is touching the fiberglass housing right next to it. I plan to grind and glass this weekend:) I had a custom 8 point installed with swinging out latches on the sides. I decided to have the center bar moved back so it was behind my head instead of over it, otherwise I was not fitting!! I had the main hoop welded directly to the frame. the other rear braces are bolted to the back deck fiberglass.
Unfortunatly I will have to have the front bars redone because there is 3 or 4 inches of clearance between the doors and the pipes. I just dont fit! I will have the pipes moved as close as possible to the door panels. The cage is not NHRA legal but it is way better then nothing! All of my body mount plates were collapsed and I had them all repaired with thicker steel. I installed the full front end kit from VetteBrakes with the composite Monospring. The front end did not even sink with a BBC at all! I will have to back off the adjustments.. After measuring for back halving the car for a 9" and slicks, we decided the only way I would fit in the car was if I had one seat in the center!! So the Fab 9 Ford rear w/slicks plan has been scrapped. I am forced to try to come up with a rear end that will bolt to the existing mounting brackets and take 600+ HP and survive. Any suggestions? It is street tires for now...
Next is cleaning and painting the interior and installing the painless kit...
Then its custom dash and console time...
Its been a year since I started this project!!
Looks sweet but I have a question, if you put the seat in the middle how are you going to see in front of you? seems there will be something sticking out of the hood to block you view. :)
I see a problem. That engine is junk. The hood isn't gonna close anymore!!! I can take that junk off your hands, in fact, I could even pick it up for you. Hey, that's what this forum's all about right?
:lolg:
