Perfomer, yes; Performer RPM (Air Gap)-no, not unless you get a drop-base air filter. Tons of guys have the drop bases and have the RPM's

Ok one last thing...

If I would get a drop base air filter, would there be enough space between the hood and filter to put a 1" spacer between the carb and still clear the hood or is this asking too much ??

That might be asking to much. Maybe some other members have the spacer. Maybe you won't need the spacer though, depending on the combination you're using, the spacer may only get you a HP or two depending on other variables, so it may not be worth it. I'll let some other guys add their two cents though.

I have a performer RPM with a speed demon carb and drop base air cleaner under a stock L-82 hood and it fits fine, not a lot of clearance so i doubt ull fit in a carb spacer  :seeya

On my 77 I have a performer with a 1 in. spacer and no drop base. Clears but Id like a little breathing room.
