Today, after 7 years of slowly resoring every nut and bolt in my 68 I got the brand new factory correct motor started and running. I spent years accumulating all the correct parts and today it purrs like a kitten.
I cannot say enough about the fantastic carburetor work done by Lars on my Rochester.
I have owned this car since 1972 and it always ran well but NEVER like this.
If you have a carburetor and you need it worked on, do not waste your time sending it to anyone else except this man whom I have never met but who is a magician when it comes to carburetors. (And he is quick and cheap).
I am like a kid in a candy store tonight.
I think I will go out in the garage and listen to it run just for the joy of it.

Re: Finally, it runs. (ksbunting)
Congrats. Sounds like you have put a lot of hard work into your car. That little reward when it fires up for the first time sure makes it worthwhile. Hopefully you will get to enjoy the fruits of your labor with a nice cruise this weekend.
Lars is a wizard, that is for sure! I'm looking at the home stretch for my 5 year project right now. Be sure to open that garage door before you listen to that engine too long :yesnod:

Jason,
I know what you mean about that garage door. My wife said I smell like gasoline or carbon monoxide.
I'm so happy to have my baby running I didn't even notice. I have been to the garage three or four times today and just sit there and listen to it run. Music to my ears, who needs a stereo when you can listen to 350 horses stomping around.
Ah, life is good when the Corvette runs properly. Next step is to get the body shop to set a date for painting and to stick to it. Then I can reinstall everything I removed, put in the new carpets and I might even get to drive it in the next year or so. I even tried the vacuum system, lights and windshield panel, and everything works like it just left the factory despite all the bad things people say about 68s.
Can you tell I love this car?

Way to go Kurt! I know your proud of her! I second the Lars compliment. He did a outstanding job on my carb and distributor. When are we going to see some pictures? :chevy
