I am adding a high mounted third brake light to my 76. I have the Pilot WE6-197 LED light bar. How do I wire this light? Brake light and turn signals use the same wires. I do not want the third brake light to flash with a turn signal. Yellow wire is for left turn and brake light. Dark green is for right turn and brake light. Can I wire the third brake light getting power from the white wire on the brake light switch or should I get a brake light decoder module that is connected to both the left and right turn-signal/brake light wires. Module has two wires in and one wire out to feed third brake light.
Re: Adding third brake light - wiring question (76greg)
Put a test light or a volt meter on that load wire(output) on the brake switch. I am pretty sure you will get 12v on brake only at that point. That is where I connected my inner brake lights and they are not affected by the signals.
Re: Adding third brake light - wiring question (76greg)
I Did it! Tapped into the white wire from the brake light switch and used a ground point at the side of the birdcage where the wireing harness is secured via a metal retainer. UREAKA!!! :D Third brake light works!
Re: Adding third brake light - wiring question (FeedVaal)
Sorry, No digital camera. Do a Google search on Pilot WE6-197 LED. It mounts to the top rear interior moulding at the rear window with double sided mounting tape provided. Wire goes under molding down to the drivers side door jam molding where ground and power are connected.
