Has anyone had the chance to drive on a race track. you know, like a nascar track. I live in miami and im restoring a 72 vette. I thought it would be great if I could drive it on the Homestead speedway. so how would I get a chance to do this, if it is even possible.
There is a track here in CO that my friends have gone to. When my radiator/waterpump and all hoses are fixed (have everything) I plan on going. Its 60bux for 1/2 day. All you need is a helmet.
You have to have a good circle track or road racing type oil pan or else your taking a chance on oil starvation. I was at an event and a C-5 blew up on the high banks.
I drove several C5s including the Z06 prototype on GM's 5 mile circular track at their DPG. Did a lot of high speed schedules on it. It was fun. Wish there was a public track around here like that. I'd be playing with my Vette on it. :auto: :steering:
I was at Watkins Glen this 4th of July and spun a rod bearing. Trailered the car ~8 hours just to get 4 laps in.
I wasnt racing but a friend of mine was. Part of the suspension broke, no contact or anything, just snapped on the straight coming up out of the boot. 10 hrs round trip for 3/4 lap. Needless to say, my parents were suprised to see me home a day early.
Yes!
It's a blast!
I've been to the drags, in Wisconsin and to a road course ( left AND right hand turns ) at Brainard speedway in Minnesota.
Got to 130 on the straightaway before I ran out of gear.
I'm slow and sloppy, but getting better.
Here I am in the winners circle
Check with Moroso. http://www.morosomotorsportspark.com They have links to clubs that rent the track for lapping days. 2.25 miles of pure fun! :steering: .
