Default Carburator Problem

My Q-Jet 750 cfm has always been a problem and to this point tinkering has not helped that much.

It starts fine when cold, but when warm after two or three starts it is hard to start, but always does. Also, the engine backfires on deaceleration.

Someone told me to take if off and fill two holes on the bottom with JB Weld. Do you think this will help?

That is a common problem.. There are actually four casting plugs that are staked in the main body. These leak from the float bowl so when you go to start you car it is flooded. You have to remove the bottom plate to see them. Clean them real good and re-stake them and then paint some JB weld over them. Use the old standard JB weld, not the quick set stuff.

IMHO, I'd send Lars an e-mail before I screwed up something.

Whats with all the people using jb weld this whole week? Id suggest getting a new carb..... a q-jet is still only a q-jet, one of the greatest improvements you can make is a new carb.

JB Weld is only $3.99

A new Q-Jet is at least $6.00.
