Default Moving rear deck and quarters

I just picked up a 77 that at one point was too close to a fire and melted the driver's quarter, door and T-Top panel. Someone unprofessionally installed a driver's side quarter and repaired the deck just as poorly. The other quarter has a few cracks, so I plan to replace all of the rear fiberglass.

I have a 76 that is nearly perfect from the T-Tops back that I would like to transfer the deck and quarters from. I have seen some of the aftermarket suppliers selling a complate rear assembly, which would leave me to believe that the fiberglass can be removed in once piece without disturbing the factory quarter panel bond strips.

From looking at it, it looks to me like the bonds definitely need to be broken at the bond strips between the door jambs and quarter panel and behind the roof panel. Unfortunately, I can't find too much information on how the rear deck is bonded on the roof behind the T-Tops. Is there a bond strip behind the T-Tops? From the drawing in the assembly manual, it looks like there is one that covers the inside and outside of the steel structure and the deck bonds to the top of this strip, but I can't tell for sure.

If anyone has moved used fiberglass from car to car with a minimum of damage to the used parts, how you did it would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Hi, Sounds to me that maybe you just oughta remove the rear clip from the '76 and transplant it on the '77 instead of taking already bonded panels apart, very labor intensive to break the bond and re-bond, Do you have any friends in the body business that might give you insight or maybe even someone, a friend, a bit more knowledgeable in fiberglas repair. :yesnod: Peace,,,,,,,,,,Craig :seeya
