It s not the frame that flexes but the body itself, since its glued down if your glue is coming undone your body will appear to sag and a gap will form between the fender and door, we had the same thing and thought it was frame rot, so we took it down to the vette shop and dats wat they said, and den after the accident we could clearly see that the glue was coming undone. :smash:
Re: Open Doors when lifting a Corvette?? (yellow 72)
I agree.... but after 2:00 pm the risk is less!!
:D
I never lift or raise my car unless the ambient temperarure is between 68 and 72 degrees, the barometor is rising, the humidity is less than 50%, it's not monday or wednesday, it's not after 1:47AM, and I have my lucky rabbits foot in my right rear pocket
IMO if your car flexes enough to break stuff when lifted, it's got other issues........
Re: Open Doors when lifting a Corvette?? (l2vette)
So I'm guessing that the general consensus is that it's ok to lift the vette with the doors CLOSED?? If so, good, because I just did it today when I removed all of my calipers so I can avoid the initial core charge from precision engineering. My driver's side door lock is stuck in the lock position so that door doesn't open.
Re: Open Doors when lifting a Corvette?? (Jasonty)
I don't think you can hurt it by lifting it with stuff open or closed, Just think of the stress it gets while your cruising down the nearest pothole avenue.
Or look at the pictures of our vette's racing...here's one of mine hard braking into a 90 degree lefthander...
