Does anyone have a list of the bulb codes for all the dash and console light bulbs that came standard on a 1980 or similar? Are there better (brighter) bulbs available? Thanks for any and all help.

:iagree:
The little computers in the bulb isle usually cover all the lights on your car.

Re: Interior Light bulb info needed for 1980 (tonyk72)
lets see --
automatic transmission indicator bulb - #161
backup lamp, cornering light - 1156
brake lights, front turn signal - 1157
all the lights in the dash, including indicator lights, turn signal arrows, high beam indicator -- all #194. The sell some long lasting, but nothing brighter. The also list #168 as instrument cluster bulbs, but I have always used 194's.
dome lamp - 214-2
glove compartment lamp - 194
sidemarker lights - 168
headlight - low beam - 5006 / high beam - 5001
courtesy lights - (down by the kick panels) 1445. They also list 206 and 240 for this, so take the old one to compare.
underhood light - 93.
license plate blubs - 168

:iagree: Wal-Mart is a good place for bulbs but they only go back so far. I took all the ones out of my 69 and wrote down the numbers. Just went in and got them. For an 80 they are probably in the computer thingey.

Are the bulbs in the dash a PITA to change? My tach bulb is out in my '77. Dread tackling this project!!
Some are easy, some are hard. As I recall, the lower ones can be reached from underneath by removing the ductwork. I think you need to remove the top dash pad to replace the top ones.
Re: Interior Light bulb info needed for 1980 (LABulldog)
Thanks to all, especially Bryan. That was exactly the info I needed. I've got a couple of bulbs out and wanted to be able to have new ones ready to go back in.
Re: Interior Light bulb info needed for 1980 (LABulldog)
Walmart does carry just about all of them except for the weird one that goes up above the A/C vents. It shines down and illuminates the heater A/C panel. It has what looks like a magnification lens on the end of the bulb, because it has to shine down so far. I have yet to find one anywhere. I also cannot read the number on it. :chevy
Re: Interior Light bulb info needed for 1980 (80TPIVette)
I took my old bulb, the one that shines on the heater/AC controls, to AutoZone. They had one that looked like the old one but not the same number. It was only a couple bucks for two so I got them. It works but isn't bright enough. Guess I should try the local Chevy dealer.
Bulb no. for the A/C control on 1978-82's is no. 558. Can be ordered thru
Napa. Checked their web site and they are listed at $1.99 each.
To find them punch in 558 under the Napa search box and they come up
along with other items with that same no. http://www.napaonline.com/cgi-bin/nc...age.d2w/report
