I pulled the front shocks off of the '69 a while back and just got around to checking them. They appear original and I'm wondering if that's the case. Numbers are:

PLIACELL
3192868 189 69 (BOTTOM)
DELCO PRODUCTS DAYTON OHIO USA

They appear to have a bluish-black finish

Any feedback is appreciated as always.

According to the NCRS judging manual for 70-72 (69 might be different but I don't think so) the shocks were semi-gloss grayish blue in color. Stamped in a band around the bottom of each shock are the words "Delco Remy Pliacell" and a date code. The date code consists of the Julian date and 2 numbers for the year. 189 69 would be the 189th day in 1969. Looks like you may have the original shocks. :chevy

That's what I thought. Anyone have an idea on what "grayish-blue" I should use to refinish them? I have a set of four modern gas shocks (KYB) on it now, but I keep everything I take off.
