18" rims in back, 17" up front?
Just thinking about new rims for my '80 coupe some time in the future. TTII style.
I know if the rims get too big, the C3-style car looks kinda goofy. Lots of yall have 17", and it looks pretty sweet.
Has anyone put 18" in back and 17" up front? Or any idea how it would look?
Thanks!

I think it would work and look great. Not sure whether they had 18s when I got mine...

Thanks, but the pictures don't seem to be on that page anymore---all I see is text (someone else late in thread complains about the same thing).

Still there:
I can see much of a diff, probably be more noticable with 17/19 or 20".

Can't rotate 17" and 18". May not matter if you drive very little or the car is for show.
So what spare do you plan to carry?

Just rebalance them. The C5 has the same 17 ” and 18 ” Rims
Spare is the same hight as the rear tires. Just thinner.

Thanks guys.
I can barely tell a difference between front and back in that picture. So does anyone have 17s up front and 19s or 20s in back? :)

that picture doesn't do that car with those rims justice. In person, a car with 18s in the back and 17s in the front is very noticeable. Espcially if they have some offset to them...(unlike C5s)

What is offset?
So it sounds like 17s up front 18s in back is a good-looking combo.
What about 18s all around? Do 18s in front make the car look bad?
I remember seeing a picture in a magazie of a C3 that had 20s all the way around. I thought it looked awful. Don't wanna go too big.
Thanks all.

I believe by offset they mean that they stick out a little further in the back.
I think that larger rims look kinda funny on the C3 because the tire sidewall is so thin.
The only real reason I want to upgrade my rims is to adapt some new better rubber tires. I think the biggest I would go is 17" becuase it keeps the sidewall of the tire on the "thick" side. But its all just personal preference.

 that car is cool. i love the paint job.
i think 17/18 or the 18/19 combo looks good on C3's. helps fill up all that un-used space in the fender wells :smash:
groovyjay, you car looks awesome with 20" TT2's all around

I am currently running 17's up front and 18's in the back and using stock C5 tire sizes. I think it looks great having larger rims on the back. I'll try to find a picture for you.

Ahhh a vette with bling bling SUV rims. I like the size combo though. Maybe you could even push 18s and 19s
I saw a SUV with ~22 inch rims that looked just like TTIIs, do they come that big now? Not that id want them on a vette though.

Dang, now I am even more confused. Even rims as big as the 20s look good on that black vette...
