Anyone else bought a dash cap for around $100 that covers the entire dash rather than buying an entire new dash for $500+. what are the pros and cons? :chevy
em, WORST mistake ever, the fitment is CRAP. They say you can install it with the dash in the car, I don't see how that is possible. I did it with the dash removed, used all the glue that came with it and 20 or so C-clamps and the fitment just plain sucks. The dashpad is of semi hard plastic and it's rather thick, so thick that the glove box door hangs on it, the clusters don't fit well, the bezels round the ***** don't fit worth a damn.
If I were you I'd get a new dash, the dashpad is 100$ down the drain.
Oh, and the speaker grilles are not cut out, they are just puntured holes. If you elave them in you can never remove the speakers, if you remove them you'll see an ugly edge.
yes, it's absolutely corrupt that they sell that POS. I paid well over 300$ for it (shipping, tax), man what a waste of money. I'd rather make a dash out of plywood :D
Mine is just starting to get some cracks.
I, too was interested in the dash cap fix, but instead, I'll think I'll just get a carpeted dash mat for 30 bucks and cover it up.

Re: Dash Cap ???? (brooksman9)
Well I like mine just fine. I like the thick plastic that’s hard to mark, cut or tear. Should out last stock vinyl. Fit good and looks good to me. Just used some pull straps to hold it tight onto old pad until adhesive cured. Did have to paint/dye it though. Money I saved paid for one new cylinder head too. :chevy
