Has anybody replaced there side mirrors with actual useful ones? I don't know about the earlier C3's, but with my '80, I have gotten to know the looks of my door handles pretty good by now. As always, pics would be great! :D
Re: Side mirrors- Is there anything better?? (c3-4me)
I find if I point the mirror down toward the ground a little I can pick up more behind me in the upper part of the mirror because of the angle, of course the bottom half of the mirror is useless but at least I can see behind me some. Of course I have a vert so I bet it helps, not pillar in the way.
Re: Side mirrors- Is there anything better?? (c3-4me)
I added a convex mirror onto my rearview mirror. It really helped me view my blindspot that my constantly bobbling passenger mirror couldn't.
I have since entertained the idea of removing the side mirrors and replacing them with a set of small convex motorcycle mirrors, or some custom hotrod style mirrors. Something like a 1" or 2" high angle convex mirror.
I was thinking about mounting them up high on the windshield pillar.
I've seen pictures of racing C3's from the mid-late '70's with mirrors that were mounted on top versus door mounted like stock, but those were big, bulky, and not attractive.
I'm looking for a small mirror I can take a glance at, without having to turn my head, to see my surroundings.
Does anybody else think that this will work?
Has anyone seen it done tastefully?

I saw a pic on vette site that showed an experimental 69 'Manta Ray' with the mirrors about 3/4 up on the pillar. I'm pretty sure thats not what I want. I want it to look as stock as possible, but give me a better / safer view.
(Gotta check the mirrors before passin' dem ricers!)

I got a picture of the MakoII/ Manta Ray concept car. You can clearly see the mirror on the driver's side pillar.
I agree, that is a little too much. I had something small and less visible in mind. I wonder if a 1" - 2" mirror could be mounted inside the car, on the pillar. That way, it'd be out of plain sight, plus give more visibility than the stock fender gazers.
