Well I started the tear down of my 69 427/435hp project. This car has not seen the road under it’s own power in about 15-20 years and was drove hard and hung up wet by Bubba most of it’s life. :smash: I think it was run hard on the drag strip or around town due to the many U-Joints thrown over the years that is evident by the damage to the Trailing Arms and fiberglass around the half shafts.
I broke the Trailing Arms down tonight for rebuild and Bubba is alive and well. The LH Trailing Arm had been put together WITHOUT the spacer and shim between the bearings and Bubba drove the car this way. The RH Trailing Arm had only 2 bolts holding the half shaft on and bolt #3 was broken off and bolt #4 had come loose and fallen out. But wait, while Bubba was driving when this happen, the bolt was drove through the trailing arm like an ice pick, and there it has remained all it’s life. Unbelievable.
