OT - model year compression (not compression ratio)
Sorry for the OT post. I know you want tech topics and are tired of all this OT drivel..... but if I posted this in C5 general I would get crucified, and if I posted this in C5 for sale I would really get slammed!!! (and justifiably so!!) so I am posting here for the C3 audience that doesn't have a huge emotional stake in this issue.... which has been bothering me, to whit:
I just checked my calendar, and it is still November 2003, although admitedly almost December 2003, which is ALMOST 2004, but still, it is 2003 and it seems to me the 2004 model corvette is already stale! The new corvette will be introduced in early 2004 as a 2005 model. Has this happened much in the past? ie, where a model year was trumped so early by the next model year? MJ
I don't know how long, but for a while anyway all car models have changed their model year in august / september. Even in C3 Corvettes... I've heard that they modify the plant for the next year model during the summer holidays. It's also important for the manufacturers to have next year models in their show rooms before the end of the year, just to show that they have new models first...
Am I correct that C6 manufacturing wont start until April or May? That means that the cars won't be in dealers until June / July, it's still a bit early though...
For example: My -75 is manufactured in January -75 and it's serial number is 11470, so the manufacturing of -75 model has started way back -74...
