Default Stock exhaust bracket question...

I pulled the stock exhaust off of my '71 yesterday and I have a question as to how many brackets(retainers) should there be holding the pipes up to the undercarriage. Besides the center loop where the pipes run through the cross member I only found the brackets in the back that held the mufflers up. Is this correct or are there some other brackets that are missing?

I'm running behind schedule finishing this weekend as I didn't order the heat wrap until Friday for the rear monospring. And I will put it on as it ends up there was a 360lb spring on the back that was shot(a goner). I have to assume it was the heat of the pipes that were only about 2" from the fiberglass spring. VBP has explicit warnings of no heat above 235 degrees and pipes should be a minimum of 3" away. I haven't even put on the Bilstein shocks yet and the rear end is already twice as firm as it was before.

If my memory is correct, I think there was only one bracket on my 77 also. I remember being surprised at that. Good luck.

For some reason I would have thought there was something else. Granted.... there's not much way the muffler on this '71 could have come loose with two bolts holding it from each side.

That is correct. One bracket at the tranny mount and one for each muffler in the rear.
