I broke down my halfshafts today and notice that on both ends the inboard side is beveled as if worn???? Hard to decribe, if you were holding the bare halfshaft and looking at the u-joint cup holes at the 3 & 9 o'clock position, both inboard areas at the top are cupped or beveled. Thanks. I might need pictures on this one.
Look at the differential housing where the half shaft fits. If there is a corresponding mark the side yokes are worn off on the inside (common ). What happens is the yoke moves inward as it wears and then the half shaft hits the housing. There should be virtually no in-out play in the yokes. If there is you need to replace them.

I have already painted the yokes so its hard to tell. I had both side yokes out this weekend and both looked ok. I just checked the end play and one has a little and the other has more. I guess the question is how much is too much? I know I need 2 Spindle Flange's, if I'm looking at everything from the Yokes to the flanges thats $340 x 2
Looks ok from the picture I see. Do the joint caps press in snug and not fit too loose? I just had to fix a 1/2 shaft yesterday because the clip popped off the flange end. The clips should fit the flanges without a problem otherwise the flanges are bent. I tried to straigthen one but couldn't get a good fit on the clips. If you get good contact without binding you should be ok.
