Steel ring head gaskets?

Will these work for a plain old 350? TRW flat tops, and vortec heads... I just dont want to hassle with the shim style gaskets.
Are there cheaper alternatives?

What you want depends on the current deck height of your motor.
Have you had the block decked? You want to keep your quench area from .035-.050" if possible. The only way to do this may be with the steel shim gaskets. Do you know what compression you want? Although head gasket thickness won't change that much it will have an effect.

This would be a good choice if you have a .005-.010" deck height and would yeild a quench of .044-.049". If you have a stock undecked block your pistons are probably .025-.035" in the hole. This is why you'd want to use a .015" steel shim gasket.

yup...
Going with a 252 cam... so we may be keeping some high cranking preasures in this beastie...
Should be torque and more torque!
.... I did some more thinking about the quench hight... i think your right. May have to go with a shim gasket just to get the piston close enough :yesnod:
