Is it even possible to adjust the headlight covers so that when the lights are off and down all 4 corners will be flush with the hood surround? I tried for several hours today on just 1 side and could not do it. The front outer corner was always down about 1/4 of an inch below the top of body. Has anyone perfected a technique for this? I know its a little thing but I like perfection.
I've used basically three areas of adjustment.
1. By loosening the three bolts surrounding the pivot on each side. There is lots of adjustment there.
2. By shimming the front mount where it attaches bhind the bumper (this may work for you).
3. By using the center adjustment screw that sets the drop height. Loacted dead center.
If you look at my website under the "Killer Lights" tab, I uploaded some pics that show the adjustment points on the stock headlight housings.
Maybe that will help you out a bit?????
After you get the feel for it, and see all the different options you have for final adjustment, it should go fairly quick. I can do them in a few minutes now, as long as the bolts are not frozen in the threads.
Go easy on them, that is just cheap cast aluminum pot metal they are made from. You can snap, crack...break the housings if you wrench too hard. http://www.mcspeed.homestead.com
I still need to figure out my adjustments. Its funny as of now they are both looking pretty decent seated and whatnot but both rub when they open and oddly enough the one that looks closer to perfect rubs worse than the other. I want to get on the rebuild of this area although it just seems so unimportant right at the moment (I can always drive during the day... hehe).
Some headlight doors are just not possible to align properly with the limited adjustment in the stock bracket. The holes in the frame for adjustment are oversize so you have limited movement.
I ran into this last year and I no absolutely no corrosion under the cross bracing, I just did not have enough adjustment.
I solved this by removing the stock bracket and it can be done easily enough from underneath.
I removed the stock bracket and placed it over a piece of aluminum plate. I figured I wanted to move the large hole up and forward so I just redesigned the bracket with this movement in mind.
Took only a little while and the 3 holes must be taped but the outside of the bracket can be any shape, just cut it out and smooth.
This allowed perfect alignment of the door. Some of the holes are strictly for weight and makes me feel good drilling lightening holes

Yes Twin Turbo I have holes in my underwear and socks too but it is caused by wear and tear. The holes in the heals of my socks is from my heals rubbing on the shoes and the hole in the underwear is the result of thin material trying to contain a monster.
