Since I am gone have my complete frame treated and painted against rust would it be good to go over all the weld from the factory ?
I understand that the welds from that time weren't that good.
So what do you think ? I am an experienced welder so no problem there.
I would treat the frame first to remove all rust and that go over all the welds again and then powdercoat it.
I would reweld all seams using a mig welder and gas. The problem is oil comming out of the seams contaminating the weld.
Your stock frame is stitch welded.
The welding done from the factory did the job but it was not well done, lots of undercutting, wrong placement of welds.
I can't be more pleased with the results and plus I have greatly improved my welding skills.
There was something on here a while ago about only welding in 2 inch sections to prevent splits from going the length of the frame. Sounds like a good idea though. :chevy
