I need some feedback. I am setting up an auction site and do not know which way to go with it. Should it be a general auction site or I was thinking about making it a vette auction site. I do not expect it will ever be or replace Ebay, this is more for fun and my other hobby (building web sites, although this is a script I bought to play with). If there is enough interest from froum member, I would go with the vette auction, but to get more people to use it, I may need to go with a general auction site. What is your opinons.
the description looks like ebay. very similar. almost lawsuit similar IMO. looks good, but some of these people are very protective of their designs and having something like ebay on you in court would be terribly unfun. i would be careful and ask them what they think about the simliarities before trying anything for actual commercial use.

I agree. I am sure they would have their lawyers all over you due to the similarities, especially with the name "VBAY".
Also, you may want to make sure that ebay hasn't trademarked "Buy It Now" for use in an auction setting. My guess is that they have.
Well this script has been around for along time and many sites are using it. If you think that it looks like Ebay, you should see some of the other ones that I looked at buying, some of them cost a couple of grand. I think if there was a probably for ebay they would have already done something about it, this is a commercial script.
As for as the "Buy it now" There is a company that is sueing Ebay because they claim that Ebay stole the trademarked from them, so someone owns it. This script does not use "buy it now" it uses "instant purchase" owned by the designer of the script.
The "VBay" is just for testing the graphic. I just threw together a picture and a name, would not be "VBay" when I open it. But I have seen all type of similer name, Ebay would be very busy.
I personnally would not be worried about using this script, It would be free to post your auction on, but if no one wanted to post on the site, that would be up to them.
It looks like a good idea, but it takes alot of traffic for an auction site to work and ultimately that's why most can't compete against E-bay or Yahoo(& Yahoo only has 289 vehicles listed).
71-LS5, This would be a free auction, I would not be trying to make anything off of it. I have the web space and just playing around with it. I know Ebay has the market, so if I made it a vette auction, it would mainly be for the forum members to use. So far doesn't look like alot of interest in it.
