On something so touchy and where screwing it up can cost such considerable $$$, I'd take it to an expert.
Better yet, take it to an expert who will let you watch over his shoulder. I'm lucky to have two good friends who run a shop, and almost everything I know about fixing things comes from just watching them and asking them questions.
I rebuilt mine myself. Setting the lash as hard as you had to put a certain amount of resistence on the pinion as you turned it. Also crushing hte crush sleave take a LOT of force and I had no good way of holding the case.
Next time I will send it out. If my work ends up whining I am just going to take it in. I normally advocate doing the work myself, but this was a bit much.
oh! If your taking about the rear drive train then, yea, if your mechanically inclined then go for it! It is not bad at all. Rear bear takes a little setup but all you need is a dial guage.
